Tickets have gone on sale for the hugely promising Singularity08 conference organised by Aral Balkan. Early bird tickets are just $99 until the end of August, and that’s only around €62 in our money - half nothing for a chance to see and hear so many great speakers.

I’m a bit late on this but after all the What is Singularity questions Aral Balkan revealed that it’s a large scale online web conference planned for later this year. Read all about over at the Singularity08 site.
Aral is just an amazing swirl of activity and in his spare time recently he put together a flash version checker website - something that everyone looks for at some stage but never knows where to go to, well now it’s sorted!

What is Singularity? - I’ve no idea but it seems to be another great project involving super flasher Aral Balkan and by putting the badge and links on your site Aral says you get an early insight to it. So voila….

Building on from that last post of the street cameras in Dublin city centre, I went ahead and plotted them on yahoo maps. You can see the location of each one and when you roll your mouse over the flag it will display the latest image from that camera. Not quite google street maps but it’s a start
It’s at www.larrymahony.com/traffic/.

Just came across this great article about web development, user experience and RIAs by Bruce Eckel, author of Thinking in Java. It suggests that Java has run it’s course as a web platform and that html, css and javascript can’t be stretched much more and that one of the best options going forward is Flash/Flex. Click here to read the article.
You should especially check it out if you don’t know much about Flash and Flex as a development platform or if your only concept of Flash is of pop-up ads. The platform has matured rapidly and since the Adobe acquistion of Macromedia it has now become a major figure in the RIA world.
