Merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings, Happy Holidays and all that.
Last day of work for 2006 has arrived. A nice week long break for Christmas coming up. Lots of eating and drinking and tv watching in store.

I have a link on the right hand side there to the top 100 Irish blogs created by Justin Mason using Technorati’s info. There are some good developer related blogs in there and it’s always good to see such talented Irish people as Tom Raftery and Donncha O Caoimh (who works on Wordpress). Unfortunately there’s an awful lot of crap there too, the kind of inane rants you could just as easily hear from a few drunks in the pub, it’s amazing that people want to read all that!
Turns out too that Jeremy Keith, who I mentioned last post, is in fact Irish! Never realised that (until he left a comment). Will have to organise a “Flash in the Pub” conference and get him over to speak!

Was at a great conference in Brighton earlier in the week, Flash on the Beach. Great group of speakers covering a whole range of Flash and web design related topics. The organiser done a great job and Brighton proved to be a great venue (despite the storm force winds blowing on the seafront).
Some of the best sessions were
- Aral Balkan discussing software development process and the use of Agile methodologies like eXtreme programming.
- Mike Chambers from Adobe showcasing the new Apollo project they’re developing. This looks really promising
- Richard Legget showing the power of Flash Lite 2 for mobile devices.
- and Jeremy Keith discussing the pros and cons of Ajax v Flash for web development.
Didn’t notice any other Irish developers over there. Doesn’t seem to be many serious Irish developers in the Flash/Flex community.
